10.000 Records udfordrer pladeindustrien .

(scroll down for english version)

10.000 Records – konceptet i ti punkter
.

10. 10.000 Records giver artisterne en ramme at arbejde indenfor. Men ansvaret og drivkraften ligger hos artisten selv.

10000 Records challenges the record industry

10.000 Records challenges artists and the traditional record companies, with a new visionary concept, which breaks away from expensive record productions while sending a message to a  new generation which is not brought up to pay for music- with a new auction concept for exclusive music.

.

Maximum 10.000

The main idea of 10.000 Records is created by Noah Rosanes. The core concept is, that the maximum cost of recording an album is set at 10.000 danish kroner (2000$ or 1350€ )  in order to be released on 10000 Records.

Noah Rosanes leads the way with his own two piece rock band ”The Freudian Slip”, which will be the first band released on 10.000 Records with the album ”Positive/Negative” on the 22nd of February 2010.

As an artist, Noah Rosanes has personally experienced, that traditional record companies demand too much and give too little  in return. They quickly give up working for a band and leave them with the hard work of promoting their own interests, while still getting there share of the sales.

”When bands have done all the preparations-  writing/recording/producing the music, it seems strange that the record companies earn half of the income, without exerting much effort to sell the product. Therefor 10.000 Records is a non profit label.

As a musician today, you have to be able to promote your music yourself, because there is no one else who can” says Noah Rosanes, creative director of 10.000 Records, who together with Mikkel Benn established the new company.

10000 Records`s aim is to create a type of dogma rules, which is the framework for the artist, and which will enable the costs to be kept low. The music business at present is characterized by tight budgets, and the expensive productions that existed in the 80`s and 90`s are unrealistic today. Therefore, 10.000 Records emphasizes and prioritizes the artistic expression and doesn´t depend on money alone to get results and attention for the music. The bands which are on the new label will have to work hard and use their own willpower to pave the way for themselves.

”It is not a matter of how much money is used, but what counts is being creative. The artists and bands who have a chance at making it today have to have something to offer themselves, this can not be created by the record company alone. That is why we want to challenge the artists, to plan their next moves themselves, even though we will try to help and inspire them. Now a days it’s all about getting a lot out of a little and using the many possibilities of the internet”, says Noah Rosanes.

.

MUSIC AUCTION

All the artists or bands that are signed to 10.000 Records, commit to donating a new song which is made and printed in only one exclusive copy. The song is put on auction at a minimum starting price of 10,000 danish kroner.(2000$ or 1350€ ).  The final auction amount will lay the foundation for financing the next release on 10.000 Records . In this way, the buyer has a unique possibility of supporting new original music. The auction song has only been heard by the artist, and the buyer will hear the song for the first time after he has bought it. So it is a truly unique piece of art. The Freudian Slip kicks off by donating the first song called “X”, and 10.000 Records hope that this goodwill from the band will get the ball rolling.  This means, that “The Freudian Slip” won’t get anything for their efford themselves, but will donate the first auction to the next signed band. If the first song is sold for more than 10.000 kr. , then the extra amount will be used on the artist`s  promotion expenses.

”Music is something everyone loves, but there are not many who will pay for it these days, so the value of music seems to be decreasing all the time.  Music should be seen as a work of art. I also see the auction as an invitation to the danish business world, which will have the opportunity to brand themselves in an entirely new and unique way”, says Noah Rosanes.

10.000 Records will, through the auction, in addition to creating a fundament for financing also plant the thought, that in theory, a song can be worth at lease 10,000 kroner. The cost of buying music is in this way put in perspective, and maybe  music consumers will begin to realize that 8 kroner (1 euro ,1.5 $) on I tunes is really not that much after all.

..

10.000 Records – The concept in 10 steps

.

1. 10.000 Records is a brand new way of running a record label, turning the economic crisis within the music business into new opportunities.

2. To get a publishing deal with 10.000 Records, the artist must be able to record and mix a complete album at less than 10.000 Danish Kroner.

3. 10.000 Records is for the reasons above on the lookout for artists, who can extract all their potential on a limited budget.

4. The artists taken on by 10.000 Records will donate one new track to the music auction hosted by 10.000 Records. This track must never have been performed publicly or published.

5. The starting bid on 10.000 Records’ auction is 10.000 Danish Kroner.

6. The funds raised from the auction are donated 100% towards the next act taken on by 10.000 Records. This way the successful bidder auction winner is contributing towards the continuing creation of new Danish music*.

7. The successful bidder will be the owner of a 100% unique track, recorded only once and listened to only by the artists them self.

8. Whether the successful bidder is a company, private individual or organisation they can solely decide, if they want to keep the track to themselves or share it with colleagues, family, friends etc.

9. Upon release of a new album from 10.000 Records, the last successful bidder will be credited as a sponsor. This will also include credits on web site, posters etc. As an auction winner you will be treated to an intimate live performance with the artist, as well as becoming a member of honour of 10.000 Records.

10. 10.000 Records gives the artist a platform to work from. Label artists will receive a distribution contract, the funds raised from the previous auction, advice etc. however, the responsibility of driving the project forward lies with the artists themselves. .
